Mulichya Jatila He Shobhat Nahi

A video docu-fiction on rights of adolescent girls

Marathi; 27 mins

From the community, back to the community”. The line summarizes the evolution and journey of Mulichya Jatila Hey Shobhat Nahi…! a docu-fiction on the rights of adolescent girls.

Born out of a group process with adolescent girls from urban slums, Mulichya... has traveled a long way. Mulichya … was basically conceptualized as a skit by a girls group. It was later developed as a full length play and performed in various communities by the media matters team. Mulichya… in its current form as a docu-fiction attempts to understand the issues, concerns, dreams and aspirations of adolescent girls.

The film has since then traveled to various districts in Maharashtra, across urban, rural and tribal communities questioning, challenging, provoking dialogue… The film has been screened in workshops, training programmes, community based events, meetings, film festivals, seminars, conferences etc. Organizations working with adolescent girls, violence against women, gender, women’s empowerment, life skills and child rights have found the film useful in initiating and channelizing dialogue and discussion with groups.

The film is available for purchase at a contributory amount of 100/- For copies, please get in touch with us at our contact numbers.
