Community Interventions
The Community Development Initiative of media matters works in urban slum communities in Thane region with groups of women, adolescent girls and children on issues related to empowerment, gender and child rights with a process oriented, participatory and rights based approach.

Sashakt
Empowering Women
Sashakt works with communities on issues related to women’s empowerment through participatory processes evolved with, planned and led by women. Sashakt is an effort in Convergent Community Action facilitating change with women’s groups from urban slum communities, NGOs and GOs. The sashakt mahila kshamata vikas prashikshan is a progression of these processes and seeks to bring forth women’s capacities as facilitators and community animators.

Sakhi Sajni
Working with adolescents through Participatory Communication and Action
Sakhi Sajni works towards enhancing adolescent life skills and the gradual establishment of adolescents themselves as change agents of their community. The process brings together out-of-school adolescent girls and integrates the approach, tools and methods of participatory communication and action.

Nanhe Sayane
Children Can!
Nanhe Sayane creates spaces for child participation through its Child Rights Resource Centres (Nanhe Sayane Kendras) in urban communities. The Nanhe Sayane-Child Domestic Work Project, reaches out to working children, with emphasis on children working in the domestic sector in urban areas. It seeks to demonstrate child participation processes and advocate the cause of child domestic workers with the State and civil society. Nanhe Sayane also works towards promoting the rights of the child in its role as the Nodal agency of Childline in the Kalyan region.
